About Bridgeway

Why Bridgeway Community Services Indianapolis Exists

At Bridgeway, where you are going matters more than where you have been.

We provide safe, structured, affordable shared housing for adults in Indianapolis who are working toward stability and independence. Our homes are built for dignity, accountability, and steady progress, for people who are ready to move forward.

Bridgeway exists to bridge the gap between where someone has been and where they want to go. We provide more than housing. We provide structure, resources, and a community that expects something of you and helps you meet it.

Housing and support services are non-medical. Residents who need clinical care are connected to licensed providers.

Jayella Jackson, RN

Founder & Executive Director

Bridgeway Community Services was founded from both professional experience and personal understanding.

As a Registered Nurse, I have spent my career caring for people during the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Before nursing, I worked for years in correctional settings. I saw firsthand what people run into when they try to rebuild after incarceration. People who wanted a second chance but had no stable housing, no employment, no community support, and nobody who believed in them.

It is also personal. I have had close family members experience incarceration and homelessness. Watching people I love struggle to regain stability showed me what people face long after they have served their time. One setback should never define a person’s future. Everyone deserves dignity, compassion, and a chance to start again.

I have always been drawn to helping people, regardless of age, gender, background, ethnicity, or circumstance. Every person has value. Every story matters.

Bridgeway exists to bridge the gap between where someone has been and where they want to go. We provide more than housing. We provide hope, structure, accountability, resources, and a community that encourages lasting change.

When people are given the right support, guidance, and opportunity, they overcome barriers and build a future with purpose. At Bridgeway, we do not simply provide services. We walk alongside people as they build a new beginning.

Programs in Development

Three programmes are being built. None are open, and none are taking residents. Each launches only when it is licensed, funded, and staffed.

Women's Safe House

In development

Safe, confidential housing for women escaping domestic violence, abuse, homelessness, or crisis. When it opens, the location will not be published.

Recovery Housing

In development

Supportive housing for adults in recovery, with connections to licensed treatment providers. Bridgeway is working toward recovery residence certification in Indiana and does not describe itself as a certified recovery residence until that is complete.

Veterans Transitional Housing

In development

Housing and support for veterans returning to civilian life, including help navigating VA benefits and resources.

Coming soon

Bridgeway is developing a Women’s Safe House, a Recovery Housing programme, and dedicated Veterans Transitional Housing. None are open yet.
